Semíramis González (Gijón, 1988) is an independent curator based in Madrid. She holds a degree in Art History from the University of Oviedo, a Master’s in Contemporary Art History and Visual Culture from the Museo Reina Sofía and the Complutense University, and is a PhD candidate at the University of Oviedo.
She is currently the curator of “Visión y presencia,” a series of performances by female artists at the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza.
González has curated projects such as “Escenarios de ficción” by artist Ana Esteve Reig in the Kora program at the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza; the group exhibition “Contra la piel” at TEA (Tenerife); “Equivocada no es mi nombre. Arte contra la violencia machista” at LABoral Centro de Arte (Gijón); “El árbol de la rabia” at the EACC in Castellón; and “Cartas al director” by Cristina de Middel at the Sala Canal Isabel II in the Community of Madrid.
She has worked with museums and institutions including Es Baluard Museu (Palma de Mallorca), the PHotoEspaña Festival, SCAN Tarragona (International Photography Festival), the Centro Atlántico de Arte Moderno – CAAM in Gran Canaria, and the Centro de Arte de Alcobendas, among many others.
In 2021, she received the Fetico Aequalitas Award for effective gender equality, and in 2024, she was honored with the Best Ally Award by the Asociación Blanco, Negro y Magenta.
Currently, she teaches in the PHotoESPAÑA Master’s Program in Photographic Projects, the Master’s in Art Business at CEU San Pablo University, and the Master’s in Cultural Management at La Fábrica.
